Do your part; Save green !
Everybody wants to go green at home, but so many people do not know where to start. There is a common misconception that going green is something that only businesses or the ultra-wealthy can do. Thankfully, this is not the case. With these three tips, you can easily save the planet while saving yourself some money.
Stop the energy vampires
When most people hear about energy vampires, they tend to think of "Twilight" and get confused. While energy vampires are not nearly as horrific as those in "Twilight," they are still an issue that should be taken seriously.
An energy vampire can be defined as any product that sucks up extra energy, even when it is not in use. These are things like TVs, computers, or even phone chargers. While in sleep mode or turned off, they will continue to use energy, thus raising your electric bill.
To deal with energy vampires, unplug things when you are done using them. You do not need to unplug the TV every time you go to grab a snack, but there is probably no reason to leave your computer plugged in when you go to bed. This is a great way to reduce your energy consumption, which is something that both the Earth and your wallet will thank you for.
Get crafty and recycle
Everyone has been harping on this for the past decade, but it's for a good reason. Recycling not only saves the planet from a ton of unnecessary waste, but it can also do a world of good for your home.
There are millions of DIY projects that will let you repurpose things like old coffee containers into flower pots or plastic bags into shower-cleaning tools. These take a bit of creativity, but they are great ways to recycle within your own home. This means that it not only saves the planet some extra strain, but it also saves you money in buying entirely new products.
Put down the bug spray
Depending on where you live, pests can be a real problem. A lot of people are tempted to simply go buy bug spray, but try not to jump on that bandwagon. Bug sprays are not only bad for the environment, but bad for the quality of air in your home. So what is the alternative?
Prevention is the answer. Instead of spraying bugs out of the air, stop giving them a reason to come to your home. Clean up your kitchen and do not leave food lying around. If they are not being fed, most bugs will not stick around for long.
If you are still in need of pest removal, try more natural alternatives like Venus flytraps or naturally scented repellents. These will not only improve the quality of air in your home, but are far more cost-effective than purchasing and repurchasing cans of bug spray.
Do your part
Nobody wants to hurt the planet, but not everyone is actively trying to protect it, either. With these three easy tips, you can help out the planet while also helping yourself. There is no reason that saving the planet should not be able to save you a few dollars as well
